Example Itinerary

Celebrate independence like never before in England’s back garden. Based on our American Legacy Package, our July 4th Celebration is topped off by a special private lunch designed by our Michelin starred executive chef at the ancestral home of George Washington.

Rates include bed and breakfast, all transport and most lunches and dinners. Rate also includes accommodation for the evening before your tour starts.

Day One - London

To kick start this tour a visit will be made to Churchill’s War Rooms, followed by a stop off at the old Texan Embassy, Berry brothers for a wine tasting and canapé experience in one of their amazing private dining venues. We then invite you to stretch your legs with a walking tour of notable London landmarks linked to the history of America.

We will host an evening talk with a guest speaker at one of London’s finest steak houses, Hawksmoor.


Day Two - London

We begin this day by exploring the Tower of London, a visible symbol of awe and fear. We then move on too Leeds Castle which was the home of the indomitable Lady Baille, before visiting the burial site of one of the first and most famous American immigrants to arrive in the UK, Pocahontas.

Guests will then be invited to dine at the beautiful Holburn Dining Room at Rosewood London.


Day Three - London

Enjoy a gentle wander up the Thames starting at the only existing home of Benjamin Franklin before a visit and private tour of one of London’s most iconic landmarks, St Paul’s Cathedral. Lunch will be served on a gastronomical double decker bus BUSTRONOME.

We finish the day with a meal at the Sky Gardens with spectacular views of London in the company of our Resolute Academic, Prof Jeremy Black MBE


Day Four - Sulgrave/Cambridge

We start our journey north with a visit to one of George Washington’s ancestral homes, Sulgrave Manor, before heading to the American Memorial Cemetery at Cambridge.

Guests will be able to join a gentle stroll around Cambridge or explore at their own leisure.

Day Five - Journey North

Our day will start with a private tour of the American Air Museum at RAF Duxford before starting our journey to the North East of England. We break up the journey with lunch at Stapleford Park in one of England’s greenest counties, Lincolnshire.

Guests will then have time to unwind at the beautiful Wynyard Hall, our very own private country manor with a private dinner hosted in the Duke of Wellington’s favourite salon.


Day Six - Richmond and County Durham

Explore one of the early colonists with a visit to Kiplin Hall, home of the 1st Baron Baltimore and founder of Maryland. We then head to a quintessential English country castle in nearby Raby, home of the Vane family who were early governors in America and sympathisers to the American cause. Lunch will be served at Mainsgill Farmshop.

We finish the day in the historical city of Durham with a private tour of the wonderful cathedral, a Unesco World Heritage site with some parts dating back to 1068.


Day Seven - Washington

Our final day begins at Washington Old Hall, hosting a special lunch to celebrate American Independence at the ancestral home of George Washington.


Day Eight - Heading Home

Sadly all good things must come to an end and guests will travel back to London via train in First Class. Your final view of Durham will leave you wanting to visit us again before arriving back into London and your onward journey.
